Hey AROTR Family,,,just think we should take a moment here to reflect on BRIAN EPSTEIN who so woefully left us on this date in 1967!!! I mean,,,yes gJake has brought us together through The Beatles AND Music,,but would we really be here and as adamant if not for Brian? (or as George would say: "If Not For You") So Bee Girls,,Shake it up baby and Play all night. Denise Monaco,,, I LOVE YOU TOO, sista. (AND Patty) Does anyone remember the show from late 50's ROMPER ROOM?? LOL,,, the "Teacher" looked at the TV camera every morning and mentioned who she "saw" watching the kids show! I'm remeinded of that when I see or mention a name on this Wonderful little Guestbook! Thanks again gJake,,

We're ready!! Two great festivals in one year! Question for the editor: Will ther be food stands on the grounds like in Louisville? We just hate to leave to go eat.I know you can't bring food in-that's fine but a burger or hot dog while dancing would be nice.

Boy0oh0BoY--I"m sure Wash-shindig-ton will feel the vibes of deja-summmer-of-love soon--Gary and his crew are about to ROCK YOUR WORLD! I heard rumors that Barrack was going to take the stage. Truth?
I'm about to be a granny any day now so that trumps the siren's call to the gathering fuel of BEATLE JUNGLE FEVER! That is the only reason I won't be there in person.
Is there going to be some kind of live feed that us Beatle freaks can feel the love? Say it is so, Gary, and make my day.

Sad to say that I will have to fore go the trip to DC. We've never missed an AROTR with its inception way back in Cleveland I'm sick over it. I am a school teacher and my school actually starts on Thursday so with DC scheduled I won't be able to make it. I still am working on my husband to do just the weekend thing, but he's not totally convinced. It isn't quite as far as a drive as Louisville. I do have one saving grace going. Got our tickets to see the real SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY IN PITTSBURGH next Wednesday and we have decent seats at the new Consol Arena, home of the Pittsburgh Penguins. This will be the 5th time I've seen Paul. I missed Ringo in Cleveland last month but I personally got to speak to him in 2002. Got to hang out with Pete Best a few times and he remebered me from visit to visit. That was way to cool. A very very nice guy. When The Beatles came to Pittburgh way back in 1964 my mother wouldn't let me go because she said I was too young. That didn't stop me from loving them. I've been a collector of Beatle memorabila since those years and have a huge colletion that I could probably retire on if I got what my stuff is worth. Our house is tastefully done with museum quality memorabila with large paintings by Shannon, (We got to know her personally as I am an art teacher)
Litho's by John Lennon, signed photos by Astrid, signed Yellow Submarine cells, collectable rare records, Bradford plates and all my signed autographs with proof. John Lennon being my most favorite as it was one of the last he signed (November)before his tragic death. The neat thing is the photo of him actually signing an
already old Bristish Tabloid from the 60's to go with it. I even had the Butcher cover LP but we had a fire back in 1980. What was lost was the things I bought as a young teen. Shortly after the fire my dad told me to get the rest of my things out of his attic. Low and behold there was two big boxes of Beatle memorabila that I never took with me. I've been collecting ever since. I have a nice little nest egg but I'm not ready to part with any of my things. I have so many things put awy. I also own a hair salon and its done with a Beatle theme. I never get tired of looking at my stuff. So, if you ever see a 2010 Siver Camaro or a 2010 white Mustang that says "THE BEATLES" Its me. One more thing. The tribute band "RAIN" will be playing at Heinze Hall in Pittsburgh, January 12.
Love to all Karen

Dear Friends and Fans,

In only mere days, hours, minutes and a few odd seconds, The World's Largest Beatles Music Festival, Abbey Road on the River will begin again in Washington DC. The Cryers, perform in music venues and festivals throughout the USA and Canada....BUT without a doubt, Abbey Road On The River is our all time favorite festival to perform at! This will be our 7th appearance at an AROTR Festival, we have performed four times in Louisville (2007-2010), once in Scranton (2008), and once in Belleville, Canada (2008).

Not only do we perform our own knock down, kick ass, hard rockin' versions of Beatles, Wings, solo Beatles and vintage British Invasion tunes, we also bring along some of our famous friends to play with. We have had Liverpuddlian and 2010 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Terry Sylvester, formerly of The Hollies as our jamming buddy several times at AROTR. As well as having our good friend Denny Laine, Legendary Guitarist and co-founder of Wings and The Moody Blues, there to perform with. As one of America's premier independent professional veteran bands, we are fortunate to have close professional ties and personal friendships with "Beatle" people.

We've toured with Pete Best and his band for the past 5 years, over 20 dates opening for them. We've worked with Denny Laine since 2005, producing and performing with him on scores of shows. Three years playing with Billy J. Kramer, who shared with the Beatles Brian Epstein as a manager and had several Lennon/McCarthy tunes written for him. Former Wings lead guitarist Laurence Juber has performed his incredible fingerstyle guitar and taught workshops at our home venue the Monmouth Academy every year for the past 7 years. Plus we are honored to have John Lennon's recording engineer, Dennis Ferrante, currently mixing our 2nd CD.

Just as the World's Largest Beatles Music Festival, Abbey Road On The River's whole purpose is to celebrate the music of the Beatles, The Cryers feel a kinship with the festival by virtual of all our Beatle connections. Like all of you, we welcome the chance to immerse ourselves for a few incredible days in music, fun, family, friends and an abundance of love!! Every year we look forward to hearing our incredible fellow musicians and reconnecting with all of our awesome fans and friends! We are privileged to be part of the AROTR family. . . So mark your calendars and count the days until we are together again at the Bestest Beatle Fest east of the Mississippi! Abbey Road On The River. . . See you there!!

All Our Loving. . .

Olivia Fuchs just informed FB that it has been proven that social connections help people live longer, healthier lives - wonder if we could get a doctor to write everyone a prescription for good health- it would read - "take five vacation days twice a year (May/September) - during these days, meet at least 50 new (Beatles) friends, listen to at least 50 hours of live (Beatles) music, and dance to at least 50 (Beatles) songs - if pulse or BP increases, rest for 50 seconds then resume activity. Dear Gary, As some of your Fans continue on our Magical Mystery Tour this summer, I want to take a second to tell you, again and often, how wonderfully your Abbey Road on the River Festivals compare to all else that is out there. I'll keep saying it--You allow us to create that magical community where we all can Come Together in Peace and Love and Rock and Roll. No drama; no heavy-handed crowd management; no rude staffers (well, perhaps, an occasional snip, but that's all [joking]); no gouging on prices. Thank you, Gary, so very much. We cannot wait to be with you as you create your magic again in D.C. at the Gaylord at National Harbor. (And, I've been spreading the love everywhere we have gone, so you should have folks from Ringo & HullabaLOU and Paul coming to D.C. and to Louisville.) Love, Love You, I Do. Olivia Anne

Gary--Forecastle was no AROTR. I got pushed out of my all day space the first two nights and got into an ugly screaming match with a ypung staff member two songs into the Flaming Lips set for parking her cute butt right in my line of view on the video platform.
I made Ya! Ya!s all three days but never saw anyone really rock them. sigh
The music was GREAT and loved the idealism of the youth doing their part to change our world for the better.
Dear Prudence made a lovely appearance from the girl from Nickleback. Beatle references everywhere!
There were undercover cops everywhere--don't remember felling paranoid for no reason at Abbey Road.
No free water in 90 friggin' degrees and small water was $3. a pop. The vendors I talked to said business was very slow--no wonder cuz I spent a fortune just hydratingThe no reintry policy SUCKED!!! No one should feel hostage at a 12 hour festival--the only air conditioning available was in the smoking van--is this Kentucky or what?
I am ranting because I couldn't even lodge a complaint online at the Forecastle website.. I appreciate AROTR so much better--thanks Gary --for making it always enjoyable for the paying public.

When DC was first announced, the opportunity to buy a "package deal" of a very good discount for tickets to DC was offered with the the purchase of a Best Ticket for Louisville. A lot of us who go to Louisville every year and get the Best Ticket there, jumped at that offer.

DC is in a different price range than Louisville for probably everything. For example parking at the Galt House hotel is $12 per night, in DC the Gaylord charges $19. I'm expecting that food and drinks also will be more expensive in DC and am budgeting for that accordingly. Looking forward to spending some time in DC seeing the FREE monuments and FREE museums. Also the $139 rate offered to us at the Gaylord was much better than I would have anticipated having to pay in DC.

Nancy, thanks for pointing that out..we kept the 2 event bundle offer all the way thru AROTR Louisville..anyone at Louisville could have walked up to the box office and purchased DC for $149.95..and the free stuff in DC is amazing..I have been to dozens of sites, and have not spent one dime on admission..now food, well, thats different cause I eat alot..but lately, the last week or so, Ive been eating in Old Alexandria..having dinner for ten bucks..and 139 at the Gaylord inclusive of resort fee is the very very best price they have ever offered to any group..this weekend the Gaylord is 239 and up.

My friends were first time attendees at the Louisville festival and they were very impressed. They're urging me to go to the Washington fest with them and I'm trying to decide. When looking at the website, all the pictures look great and it looks and sounds like Louisville was a huge success. However, I see a MAJOR difference in what was offered for $200 in Louisville, compared to what is being offered in Washington for the same price. I'm referring to the amount of time the festival lasts, the number of groups performing, etc. Why there is such a difference.....is there more coming which isn't posted yet?

Best answer, I guess, is it is up to us as marketers to show value, and you as consumers to decide if we have. Put simply, a hamburger on one block can be 99¢ and on another 6 bucks. A hotel room in one part of town is 60 bucks, in another 300. DC and Louisville are different markets and many things that are one way in Louisville are not that way in DC. Part of what we are offering is DC; the experience of being in the nation’s capital at a brand new 3 billion dollar lifestyle resort with easy access to Old Alexandria, Mt Vernon, The Monuments and more. Will that be more fun for you? I don’t know. We are very proud of our Louisville event, and are expecting and planning to feel the same in DC. Time will tell, right? The event experience in DC will not be exactly the same as the one in Louisville…we are not building Golden Arches.
